PRAYER OF ADORATION

THE LORD’S PRAYER

All: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

CALL TO CONFESSION (Micah 7:18-19)

Leader: Who is a God like you, pardoning iniquity and passing over transgression for his people? He will again have compassion on us; he will tread our iniquities under his feet. He will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Leader: Father, we are sorry for the many times we have left you and chosen to satisfy our own selfish desires.

People: Father, we have sinned. Forgive us.

(Silent Reflection)

Leader: For the times we were unkind and impatient with those who needed our time and concern.

People: Father, we have sinned. Forgive us.

(Silent Reflection)

Leader: For the times we were too weak to stand up for what was right and allowed others to suffer because of our cowardice.

People: Father, we have sinned. Forgive us.

(Silent Reflection)

Leader: For the times we refused to forgive others.

People: Father, we have sinned. Forgive us.

(Silent Reflection)

Leader: Change our hearts, Heavenly Father.

People: Bring to our lives the wholeness you’ve promised, through Jesus Christ, our conquering and reigning King. Amen.

ASSURANCE OF GRACE (Revelation 5:9-10)

Leader: Do not weep! See, the Lord our Christ has triumphed. With his blood He has purchased people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation. He has made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth. To all who repent and look to Jesus Christ for their salvation, forgiveness of sins is freely given in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

People: Amen

Leader: The Lord is merciful and gracious,

People: slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness.

Leader: Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good,

People: for his steadfast love endures forever.

Leader: Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.

People: As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be. Amen.

Leader: Wherein did Christ’s humiliation consist?

All: Christ’s humiliation consisted in his being born, and that in a low condition, made under the law, undergoing the miseries of this life, the wrath of God, and the cursed death of the cross; in being buried, and continuing under the power of death for a time.

Leader: Wherein consists Christ’s exaltation?

All: Christ’s exaltation consists in his rising again from the dead on the third day, in ascending up into heaven, in sitting at the right hand of God the Father, and in coming to judge the world at the last day.
